Irrigation Technician
Position Overview:
Capilano Golf and Country Club is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Irrigation Technician to help manage the golf course irrigation system and its unique gravity fed water source. Reporting to the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents, the successful applicant will be responsible for all required maintenance and performance monitoring of the irrigation system and will work with and learn from the Senior Irrigation Technician.
Capilano is currently upgrading its mainline water feed, including the addition of a booster pump to improve water pressure for the higher elevated areas of the golf course. The club is also planning a phased Irrigation Master Plan to replace most of the irrigation system across the golf course. The Irrigation Technician will have a key role throughout the construction period in managing the transition of the irrigation systems. They will also be an integral part of setting up and fine tuning the new system to the golf course requirements.
Course Information:
Capilano is a private 18-hole facility located in beautiful British Columbia. Constructed in 1938 by esteemed Canadian golf course architect Stanley Thompson, Capilano is continually ranked in the top 10 golf courses in Canada by Score Golf Magazine and ranked in the top 100 golf courses in the world outside the United States by Golf Digest. Capilano is committed to continually restoring and improving the golf course as part of a Course Long Range Master Plan, that has been in place for several years. Our high-performance Course and Grounds team is comprised of up to 40 employees who love to work outdoors, enjoy being in the company of others, and who take pride in their work. The state-of-the-art Maintenance Facility provides a clean, comfortable and warm place to work from.
Location:
West Vancouver, British Columbia. The course is surrounded by mountains with access to hiking, mountain biking and skiing, and is located less than 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Continually rated as one of the best cities in the world to live, Vancouver is known for being modern and safe, and has great amenities such as numerous beaches, Stanley Park Forest and quick access to the North Shore Mountain range.
Educational Requirements
Post-secondary degree or two-year diploma in a related turf management field is preferred.
Experience Requirements
Previous experience with the Toro Lynx central irrigation software and Toro Irrigation heads is an asset but is not essential
