Assistant Superintendent
We are a 27-hole, private golf club that most recently renovated our Fazio Course greens, fairways and greenside bunkers during the Summer of 2024. All 18 putting surfaces on the championship course, along with 4 putting greens, were planted in Tif3D, making us one of the first in the world to do so. We have an active Club schedule and host Club Tournaments monthly in addition to the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at Floridian. This is a great opportunity for an aspiring professional to work at a special club, with a team dedicated to producing exceptional playing conditions.
The position will work closely with the Superintendent and Lead Assistant and involve (but not be limited to) the following duties:
- Assist in scheduling, training, supervision and evaluation of employees.
- Participates in fertilizer / pesticide applications and calibrates all application equipment regularly.
- Maintains records of fertilizer, pesticide and irrigation applications as well as inventories of consumables.
- Supervises and participates in the operation, repair and maintenance of the irrigation and drainage systems.
- Assists in ensuring a safe working environment in all aspects for all employees.
- Assists in the oversight of outside vendors and contractors.
- Assists in mowing, course set up, handwatering and any other duty requested of him based on the daily operational needs of the golf course.
Educational Requirements
- 2 or 4-year Turf Management/Science Degree, Turf Management Certificate or other associate’s degree preferred.
Experience Requirements
- 2+ years of on-the-job, golf course experience
- Have a working understanding of irrigation repair/maintenance, as well as chemical /fertilizer application and calibration.
- Basic computer skills with programs like MS Word, Excel and any of the latest versions of Central Irrigation System controls (we currently run Toro Lynx).

- Be an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with the ability to quickly adjust and adapt to a dynamic working environment.
- Maintain a professional image at all times and lead by example, keeping in mind the standards and expectations of both the Department and Club.
- Have a valid, State issued, Drivers License
- Either currently have a valid State of Florida issued Commercial Applicator License or be able to obtain one within 90-days of employment.
- Be able to lift 50+ lb. bags/containers repetitively and work outside year-round in all weather conditions.
- Be available to work weekends, some holidays and be able to respond to any emergency call-in situations after “normally” scheduled hours.
- Understand that the nature of this profession may regularly require working shifts longer than 8-hours in order to complete necessary tasks.
- Pass a standard drug screening prior to employment.
