About Us
Maverick Golf and Ranch Club is seeking a Senior Assistant Superintendent to join the Golf Course Maintenance Department. Located in Fort Worth, TX, Maverick is the newest property in the Discovery Land Company portfolio. The facility will be comprised of a Fazio designed 18 hole championship course, a 9 hole par 3 course, and state of the art practice facility and short game area. An additional 12 holes will be added during the final phase of the project. The turf selections are robust in nature, and aim to offer a wide variety of playing surfaces. On the championship course, the greens will be seeded with 007XL bentgrass, and built to USGA specifications. The tee’s and fairways will be comprised of Stadium zoysia, while the roughs will be Zeon zoysia. On the par 3 course, tiff eagle will be utilized on the putting surfaces. The tee’s, fairways, and rough will sodded with TiffTuff bermuda that is overseeded in the fall.

Job Description
The Senior Assistant Superintendent will report to the Director of Agronomy, and will serve as second in command of the Golf Course Maintenance Department. This role is unique in nature, as it will require the individual to manage the golf course construction, grow-in, and maintenance of Discovery Land Company’s newest premier property.
Key Responsibilities
· Assists in managing all aspects of golf course maintenance, including mowing, fertilization, pest control, irrigation, and cultural practices.
· Create an environment of professionalism, respect, timeliness, and accountability among the maintenance team.
· Oversees and executes any and all operations necessary for golf course grow in.
· Works with DOA to identify critical path items and ensures project completion is on track.
· Calibrates fertilizer spreaders and sprayers, ensuring accurate output of all products.
· Maintain a safe, clean and organized jobsite.
· Quality control of all aspects of golf course construction in accordance with spec book.
· Assists and oversees preplant fertilizer applications to all turfgrass areas.
· Assists and oversee’s putting green seeding/sprigging and establishment
· Oversees grassing of all other playing surfaces.
· Aids in irrigation design, spacing, and mapping.
· Helps to recruit, interview, hire, and train all personnel within maintenance department.
· Aids in keeping accurate schedules and records of all maintenance completed on course, including detailed records of all pesticide applications.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree or certificate in turfgrass management
· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
· Strong knowledge of turfgrass species, irrigation systems, and golf course agronomy practices.
· Valid driver's license and pesticide applicator's license (or ability to obtain).

· Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to golf course construction demands.
· Ability to work in a team environment.
· Ability to prioritize work in an extremely fast paced environment.
· Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
· Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
