Seasonal Intern
Crow Valley Golf Club is a private 18-hole golf club located in Davenport, Iowa located just 4 miles from the Mississippi River. The golf course was designed by John N. Cochran in 1969. Crow Valley has hosted multiple local and state championships, including the 2022 Iowa Amateur and the 2024 U.S. Open Local Qualifier. All the greens were regrassed in 2008 with A-4 bentgrass. The driving range and short game area were renovated in 2012.
Duties:
The Golf Course Maintenance Intern will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents in all aspects of golf course management. Areas of education will be tailored to each intern’s skill set and will include but not be limited to the following duties.
• Daily Course Setup and Scouting
• Equipment Operation
• Irrigation Repair, Maintenance and Operation. Lynx control system with Smart satellites and Toro heads
• Water management which focuses on hand watering green surfaces with the use of moisture meters
• Proper calibration of sprayers and fertilization equipment
• Fertilizer and Plant protectant applications
• Crew management
Educational Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Turf management or related program
Special Requirements
A positive, self-driven, team-minded attitude is a must. We are looking for individuals that take pride in what we do and are eager to learn and set themselves up for an assistant opportunity once finished. The right candidate will be exposed to all facets of golf course management including daily course setup, fertilizing, spraying, irrigation maintenance, repairs, and operation, the use of moisture meters and hand watering, crew management, budgeting and record keeping. No two internships will be the same as the first day we will sit down with the students and adjust our summer internship program so that it fits your needs as well as ours.
