Golf Course Description
Belfair boasts two Tom Fazio Championship Golf Courses and a state-of-the-art practice facility, all set within a stunning low-country-themed landscape. Recognized as one of Golfweek’s top residential golf communities, Belfair proudly hosted the 2019 PGA Professionals Championship.
The West Course underwent a renovation in the spring of 2022, which included the installation of a new Rain Bird irrigation system, the addition of Tifeagle greens and Tifgrand approaches, and the redesign of bunkers with Capillary Concrete liners.
Position Description
The First Assistant Superintendent, reporting to the Director of Agronomy and the West Course Superintendent, will play a key role in all aspects of course management. Responsibilities include daily scheduling and crew management, irrigation maintenance and repair, fertility and plant protectant applications and record-keeping.
The ideal applicant is self-motivated, detail-oriented, proactive, and a team player who can think ahead to anticipate and solve challenges.
Educational Requirements
· Education: 2 or 4 year degree in a Turf Management, Agronomy, or related field.
· Licensing: South Carolina Commercial Category 3 Pesticide License, or the ability to obtain it with-in 90 days.
Experience Requirements
· Schedule Flexibility: Availability to work weekends, holidays and in inclement weather.
· Experience: Prior experience at a high-end private club is preferred.
· Language Skills: Spanish-speaking ability is a plus but not required.
· Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
· Team Development: Capability to work with, train, and develop crew members effectively.
· Other: Valid driver’s license
