Pine Valley Golf Club

Pine Valley Golf Club is a 18-hole private golf course founded in 1913, designed by George Crump. In addition to the Old Course, there is a 10-hole Short course designed by Tom Fazio and a 20-acre double-ended practice facility. Pine Valley Golf Club offers candidates an opportunity to be part of a constantly evolving golf club with improvement projects happening each year.

Candidates will have the opportunity to be a part of a golf operation that is continuously evolving with various construction projects taking place each year. Assistant Superintendents will work closely with the Superintendent, Senior Assistant, and other assistants to direct, and monitor all maintenance aspects of the golf course. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, reliable, and eager to learn. Candidates must also have the willingness to work the hours required to uphold the high standards of Pine Valley Golf Club, as well as have a strong eye for detail with a desire to advance in the turf maintenance industry.


The selected candidate will also be responsible for the proper handling, mixing, application of pesticides and fertilizers, and accurate recordkeeping. They will provide supervision and directly participate in the daily maintenance of the golf course.

Educational Requirements

  • Two or four-year degree/certificate in agronomy and/or soil science.
  • Must be able to obtain a New Jersey Pesticide license in a timely manner.
     

Experience Requirements

  • Prior experience working on a golf course in a supervisory role preferred.
  • A team player who is capable of working with other assistants and crew members.
  • A detailed oriented individual.
     

Special Requirements

  • Must have a passion for the turf industry with a strong desire to become a Golf Course Superintendent.
  • Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in Turf Maintenance.
  • Must be willing to take directions and provide clear and concise directions to staff.
  • Must possess the ability to coordinate and complete tasks with little to no supervision.
  • Must be able to assist in scheduling, evaluating staff performance, and upholding safety standards.
  • Must be a self-starter and eager to learn.
  • Must be able to recognize and solve problems.
  • Must maintain high performance standards.
