Equipment/Shop Manager

Mechanic Summary of your new role: Under supervision, works on diverse range of activities involved in golf course maintenance primarily responsible for maintaining, repairing, and keeping in good working order all golf course equipment as required. Reports directly to the Equipment Manager and/or Superintendent Day to Day: • Establish and implement preventive maintenance programs for all equipment on inventory in the golf maintenance operation. • Be responsible for the repair and maintenance of all golf maintenance equipment. • Maintain the mechanics work area and company tools in a clean, well-organized, safe, and secure manner at all times. • Will be responsible for maintaining adequate inventory levels of petroleum products, replacement parts and shop supplies as established by the Golf Course Superintendent. • Advise Superintendent on capital equipment addition or replacement needs. • Assist in training grounds staff on proper and safe operation of maintenance equipment. • Be responsible for all required documentation relating to equipment repairs and purchasing replacement parts. • If applicable, will be responsible for supervision, training, and task scheduling of all mechanic’s assistants employed in the golf course maintenance operation • Responsible for seeing that daily assignments are completed in the respective areas, to meet Club standards and as communicated expectations (ie no trash/debris on course, etc.). • Assist fellow Employees, Members and guests to ensure delivery of the 3 steps of service without being directed. Be aware of team members and the environment and participate as a member of the team. • Notify supervisor of Member/Guest complaints at the time they occur. Rectify, practicing service recover, any complaints as soon as possible.

Educational Requirements

  High school diploma, GED. Or equivalent, preferred • Must have technical and working knowledge of all equipment as well as replacement parts, supplies and other resources needed in the repair and upkeep of the equipment. •

Experience Requirements

 Minimum of 2 years’ experience in golf course mechanics experience or small engine repairs •Ability to perform outdoor work year-round, with possible extreme temperature variations Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, walking, driving, exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs on occasion, folding/unfolding, talking, hearing, and seeing. Primary tools/equipment used in this position • Construction tools (shovels, axes, sledgehammers, etc.) • Gardening tools (pruners, rakes, hedge shears, trimmers, etc.) • Blowers • Grass Mowers • Tractors • Mechanical tools (wrench, drill, screwdriver, etc.)
