Job Description:
Solina Golf Club, a private golf course in Columbia, South Carolina, is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong background in turf management and golf course operations to contribute to maintaining a premier golf facility.
As an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, you will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent in the daily management and maintenance of the golf course. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, leadership skills, and a passion for creating exceptional playing conditions for our golfers.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist the Superintendent in managing all aspects of golf course maintenance, including greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and other landscape areas.
· Oversee and participate in the daily operations of course maintenance, including mowing, fertilization, irrigation, aerification, and pest control.
· Ensure proper operation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
· Supervise and train maintenance staff, ensuring that work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.
· Assist with scheduling and managing staff to ensure adequate coverage for all maintenance tasks.
· Help in the development and implementation of agronomic programs, including soil testing, turf health monitoring, and pest management.
· Manage and maintain accurate records related to turf treatments, equipment maintenance, and daily operations.
· Work with the Superintendent to manage the course’s budget, resources, and supplies.
· Ensure compliance with all environmental and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
· A degree or certification in Turf Management, Horticulture, or a related field.
· 2 years of experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 1 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
· Strong knowledge of turfgrass management practices, irrigation systems, and equipment operation.
· Ability to lead, motivate, and train a team of maintenance staff.
· Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
· Pesticide application license (or ability to obtain within a specified time frame).
· Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining high-quality playing conditions.
