Horticulture Manager

 The Horticulturist is responsible for maintaining the Clubhouse grounds, including all lawns and flowerbeds, to the highest standards. This includes the tennis courts, pool, front entrance, and clubhouse surrounds. This hands-on management position requires a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. It is Full-Time with great benefits and a salary based on experience.

Job Requirements:

·        Have or are actively pursuing a 2 or 4-year degree in Horticulture or with 3 years of professional experience in horticulture or closely related fields.

·        Familiarity with proper plant selection for different environments around the clubhouse.

·        Knowledge of proper planting and pruning techniques and best management practices.

·        Some supervisory experience—overseeing landscape crew.

·        Valid Driver’s License.

·        Possess or obtain a Texas Pesticide applicator’s license within 90 days.

·        Motivated self-starter who has an eye for details.

·        Develop and implement standard operating procedures for landscape management.

·        Can work in all weather conditions.

·        Flexible work schedule—work weekends and holidays as needed.

·        Operation of power equipment and heavy machinery if needed.

·        Some Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsible for:

·        General maintenance of all clubhouse lawns and landscapes.

·        Daily scheduling of 4 full-time employees

·        Overseeing and monitoring crew performance.

·        Color change out and flowerbed maintenance.

·        Irrigation scheduling and proper hand watering practices for supplemental water.

·        Proper application, timing, and record-keeping of fertilizer and chemicals.

·        Budgeting and purchasing plant materials, fertilizers, tools, and chemicals

Physical Requirements:

·        Required to bend, stoop, and stand up to 8-10 hours a day.

·        Must be able to lift, push, or move up to 50 lbs.

·        Work independently--able to move about departments and club buildings in a professional manner.

·        Must have good or corrected vision to select/stock merchandise and read labels.

·        Must be able to work in a busy environment.
