Golf Course Superintendent
Job description
We’re looking for a Superintendent who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get the job done alongside their team. If you find satisfaction in guiding a productive golf course maintenance crew, and if you’re excited about supporting their growth and boosting efficiency, this might be the position for you! We want someone who’s detail-oriented, knowledgeable about salt water-affected turf maintenance, and ready to help coordinate a new irrigation system installation and other renovations to the golf course.
As a Superintendent at La Cita, you will be actively involved in daily golf course maintenance while leading your equipment operators and technicians. You’ll take responsibility for safety, quality, production, and efficiency—all while fostering a positive, can-do environment.
Here’s an overview of what you can expect to do while working here:
- Planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees, and fairways, with a focus on salt water-affected turf
- Overseeing production staff and ensuring the proper use of equipment
- Managing all production staff work schedules
- Instructing equipment operators on proper equipment handling
- Supervising pesticide applications and/or operating and calibrating pesticide application equipment
- Overseeing hydraulic irrigation and drainage systems, ensuring they operate effectively, and coordinating the installation of the new irrigation system
- Driving a culture of safety among your production team through continuous training and leading by example
- Building strong relationships with both internal and external clients
- Making sure the golf course meets La Cita’s quality standards
- Handling timekeeping records accurately and on schedule
- Coaching and developing your production team members
- Providing hands-on training for new and experienced team members to set them up for success
- Interviewing, selecting, and helping to onboard new team members, ensuring they have a great start
- Taking on other duties as assigned by the leadership team
Educational Requirements
Associates Degree in Turf Management or comparable experience

Responsibilities for La Cita Superintendent
- Oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance and agronomic operations, including profit and loss management and personnel leadership for La Cita Golf Course.
- Foster a safe work culture, setting the standard for all employees through proactive training and leadership.
- Work independently as a self-starter, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and initiative to keep the course running at its best.
