Golf Course Superintendent

Full-time

The City of Seattle is seeking a full time Golf Course Superintendent at Interbay Golf Course, one of four courses maintained by the City of Seattle Parks & Recreation.  Duties will include supervising and coordinating all maintenance activities at an executive 9 hole golf course, however, you may be assigned to one of the other courses if needed (the salary at all four courses is the same).

The course is 28 yrs old with USGA greens, poa annua putting surfaces, a Rainbird Stratus II central control irrigation system and an annual operating budget of approximately $1 million.  The equipment is maintained with part time assistance from one of the three mechanics working at West Seattle, Jackson, and Bill Wright golf courses.  This requires the Interbay Superintendent to be involved with the coordination of all repairs, reel maintenance, and equipment transport.  Staff consists of two additional full time employees and 1-2 seasonals.

The City offers a 40-hour work week, with occasional overtime paid at double time.  City Employees enjoy 12 paid holidays, 12 sick days, 2-4 personal holidays, and 12-30 vacation days per year.  Vacation accrual rates will increase the longer you work for the City.   The City offers a very generous benefit package for you and your spouse/partner & children with an excellent retirement pension plan.  Free golf & driving range use is included at the four City golf courses and restaurant discounts are offered during your shift. Yearly boot & clothing allowance of $350 is also offered along with use of a City vehicle while working.

The course may be undergoing some reconfiguration in the near future to accommodate light rail service which will be an exciting opportunity to work alongside a golf course construction contractor to help guide the process.

This is a union represented hourly position and a yearly COLA pay increase has been negotiated through 2026.
