Assistant Superintendent
The Riverton Country Club is looking to add the position of an Assistant Superintendent to our maintenance team. The Assistant position will have a strong emphasis on the adjustment, operation, troubleshooting and repair of the irrigation system. Riverton Country Club, located in Riverton, Wyoming.
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. Under the Superintendents supervision, the assistant superintendent participates in all maintenance of the golf course; tees, greens, fairways, roughs, etc. Supervises the maintenance staff; and does related work as required. The Assistant Superintendent may serve in the Superintendent’s capacity during his absence.
Typical Functions:
Daily planning, training, management, and supervision of the golf course maintenance crew
Assists in planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees, and fairways; schedules work and supervises the employees and the use of equipment.
Instructs equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment
Assists in all chemical applications and/or operates and calibrates chemical application equipment
Participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation
Adjusts, troubleshoots, and repairs irrigation system
Assists in inspection, diagnosis and repair of mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment including diesel, electric, and gasoline powered equipment
Instructs and or trains golf course maintenance workers regarding preventative maintenance, the proper cleaning, and safe operation of equipment
Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance
Assists with preventative maintenance program within budget on all equipment, and purchases repair parts and replacement supplies
Educational Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Turf certificate from turf program
Preferred 2 year-4 year Turfgrass degree or related Horticulture degree
Experience Requirements
2 to 4 years of golf course maintenance experience
1 Year minimum Experience operating, adjusting, troubleshooting and repairing golf course irrigation system
1 Year minimum Supervisory experience
Good communication and team work skills
An eye for detail of all work
Possession of a valid drivers’ license
Possession of Wyoming Commercial Pesticide License or once employed
Job Benefits
Full time, year-round position exempt
$35,000 to $50,000 salary based on experience
