Assistant Superintendent

Red Feather Golf and Social Club is seeking to find an qualified candidate for the Assistant Superintendent position. The Assistant Superintendent (AS)  will report directly to the Superintendent and work alongside the other AS and mechanic. The AS will be directly involved in day to day operations, planning, and maintenance in all areas of the golf course and property. 

 

Red Feather Golf and Social Club is a brand new club in Lubbock, Texas. Construction began in the summer of 2021 on the King-Collins designed course and the facility opened in October of 2023. 777 Bentgrass greens and Innovation Zoysia make for some of the best playing conditions around.  Boasting the longest par 5 in the state of Texas at 719 yards and two double greens, 'The Feather' is truly a one of a kind property. 

Educational Requirements

  • 2 year turf degree  
  • 4 year turf degree preferred 
  • Certificate acceptable with experience

 

Experience Requirements

Minimum 2 years in golf course maintenance 

Golf course construction a plus but not required 

Special Requirements

  •   Assists in planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees, and fairway; schedules work; and supervises the employees and the use of the equipment.
  •   Instructs/trains equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment; participates in pesticide applications and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment; and supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems
  •  Assists in personnel management and evaluation, staff safety and personnel discipline.
  •  May modify the daily works schedule based on professional interpretation.
  • Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways and greens; seeding and maintenance practices for golf course turf; planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants shrubs and trees; characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners; herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation systems, including wells pumps and automatic controls.
  • Proficiency in computer use, knowledge of Microsoft Office and other applications as specified by supervisor.
  • Ability to schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment; prepare clear and concise reports; and maintain effective staff and public relations.
  • Knowledge of state of the art technology
  •  Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have or be able to obtain Texas Pesticide license with 90 days of employment.
