Equipment/Shop Manager

At Horseshoe Bay Golf Club, we pride ourselves on providing a premier golfing experience for our members and guests. Nestled in the beautiful landscape of Door County, Wisconsin, we are looking to enhance our operations with a skilled and dedicated Golf Course Equipment Manager. If you have experience managing a fleet of turf equipment, particularly Toro, Club Car, and Bobcat machinery, and a passion for the game of golf, we want you to join our team!

The Golf Course Equipment Manager will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining our fleet daily. This role requires technical expertise in the repair, maintenance, and management of turf care machinery, as well as the ability to manage and groom an assistant equipment technician to ensure our course is always in top shape.

$65,000-85,000 D.O.E.

This is a year-round, salaried position. 401k with an employer match. Yearly performance bonus as well as a share of the member funded “Thank You” Fund.  Health insurance including vision and dental or monthly stipend. Uniform provided as well as an additional clothing allowance. Company provided cellphone or stipend.  In-season meal stipend. Playing privileges. Moving and initial housing assistance available.

Below are some of the expectations of the position:

Fleet Management: Oversee the maintenance and operation of all golf course equipment, with a focus on Toro products, including mowers, tractors, sprayers, and utility vehicles.

Preventive Maintenance: Implement and manage a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to ensure equipment operates efficiently and minimizes downtime.

Repairs & Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs, including engine, hydraulic, electrical, and other systems.

Inventory & Ordering: Manage equipment parts inventory, order supplies and parts, and track usage to optimize stock levels and cost control.

Team Leadership: Supervise and train an assistant equipment technician as well as crew to ensure safe, effective, and efficient operations of all machinery.

Budget Management: Assist in budgeting for equipment repair, replacement, and new purchases.

Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all repairs, maintenance schedules, and work performed on each piece of equipment.

Collaboration: Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and other staff to schedule equipment maintenance around course needs and events.

Assist with snow removal

Maintain regular and reliable attendance

Perform additional duties as required

Qualifications:

Proven experience in golf course equipment management, with expertise in Toro machinery strongly preferred.

Strong mechanical background, with the ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical systems.

Previous experience leading a team or managing staff in a similar role.

Knowledge of turf care equipment maintenance, safety standards, and best practices.

Ability to prioritize and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a variety of vehicles and machinery.

Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Certification in Turf Equipment Maintenance or related field preferred (but not required).

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Must be able to frequently sit, stand, bend, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and walk.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and to lift overhead and push/pull, move lighter objects.

The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, of moderate cold, and extreme heat.

The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and motorized equipment vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
