Golf Course Superintendent

Clearbrook Golf Course is a beautiful Hal Purdy design 9-hole well-manicured championship golf course located in Central New Jersey in Monroe Township. The course is situated in the active adult community of Clearbrook and is open to the public.  Clearbrook is a regulation 9- hole golf course and plays close to 3,000 yards and offers patrons the opportunity of a 6,000-yard 18-hole experience when played twice. The narrow tree lined fairways and undulating greens provides a true test for the most experienced golfer while a variety of different tees can accommodate the intermediate and beginning golfer.

The Superintendent will manage all aspects of the grounds and maintenance department including its activities and the relationships between the facility, its patrons, employees, community, government and industry. Maintain a high standard of turf and cultural practices to provide the customer with the best possible course conditions.  Develops operating policies and procedures and directs the work of all department managers. Implements and monitors the budget, monitors the quality of product and ensures maximum playing conditions are met. Secures and protects assets, including financial, facilities and equipment. Position reports directly to the V.P. of Golf Operations and is supported by the Spirit Golf Management Director of Agronomy.

Educational Requirements

Successful completion of a 2 or 4-year Turfgrass Management or Certificate Program

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience working as a Superintendent of Assistant Superintendent.
  • NJ Pesticide Applicator License or the ability to obtain one.
  • Experience with Toro Irrigation

Special Requirements

  • Coordinate with Spirit Golf Management LLC the development of the annual operating budget.
  • Coordinate with Spirit Golf Management LLC to develop a long-range capital improvement plan.
  • Develops / implements general policies approved by Spirit Golf Management LLC.
  • Oversees that specific operational policies, programs, and procedures relating to managing the course and grounds department.
  • Monitors the performance of all daily operations, functions and services; assures high turf grass standards and total customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain proper records and reporting deadlines required by township, state and federal guidelines.
  • Develops and maintains a sound organizational structure.
  • Develop emergency and safety procedures and proper training of maintenance staff.
  • Maintains active memberships in appropriate professional organizations.
  • Assures operational compliance with local, state, and federal laws relating to pesticides application and other government regulated activities. 
  • Oversee the care and maintenance of all physical assets and facilities.
  • Oversee and works with department heads to schedule and supervise staffing.
  • Attend regular staffing meetings, golf committee meetings and daily interaction with the golf pro.
  • Monitor and maintain all turf equipment. Assure all equipment is safe fro operation.
  • Meets with Spirit Golf Management LLC’s V.P. of Golf. and other management team.
  • All other activities as deemed necessary to perform the work of the Golf Course Superintendent.

Job Benefits

Bonus;  

  • $1,500 bonus will be offered at year-end for completing the year on or under the maintenance budget.
