Spray Applications Technician/IPM Manager

Position Summary

Effectively lead, organize and direct all aspects of the Integrated Pest Management department.  Direct department in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. Provide superior playing and aesthetic conditions, safe work environment, and continuous employee development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Direct the daily activities of IPM Technicians.  This includes detail-oriented training to ensure employee and member safety, as well as the accurate application of materials, and proper care and cleanliness of facilities and equipment.

Maintain appropriate inventories of pesticides and fertilizers.  Inventories to be maintained within budgeted guidelines and following established purchase order and invoice processing procedures.

Maintain accurate and organized records regarding material applications and achieved results.

Effective communication regarding material applications to ensure the safety of employees, members, vendors and guests.

Manage our “Employee Right to Know” program, including the monitoring and updating of our Safety Data Sheet (SDS) station.

Ensure the IPM facilities and all associated equipment are maintained to the highest standards.

Recruit, hire, train, evaluate and discipline procedures associated with the IPM department.

Provide reports within established deadlines.

Applications of liquid and granular pesticide and fertilizer products.  Applications will be made using boom sprayers, spot sprayers and granular spreaders.

Hand pulling weeds.

Removal of exotic plant species.

Recognize and understand our environmental RESPONSIBILITY AND ensuring that staff members operate as proactive environmental stewards.

Follow established program for recycling of used pesticide containers.

Ensure all applicators use appropriate Proper Protective Equipment (PPE) for all material applications.

Educational Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.

The nature of the position requires the individual to spend long periods of time on their feet, walking, standing and stooping.

Requires lifting and carrying up to 60 pounds.

Ability to work well under pressure

Must not possess any extreme personal appearance characteristics as judged by the conservative membership base.

Must have or be able to obtain a spray applicators license within 90 days of hire

$18 to $22 per hour
