Position: Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Overview: Old York Road Country Club, a prestigious private club located in Ambler, PA, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent to maintain and enhance the quality and playability of our 18-hole championship golf course.
The Assistant typical work schedule will be 45-50 hours a week from April-October with one four hour shift each weekend during the growing season. At OYRCC we strive to provide a great work life balance and this position is encouraged to take a week vacation during the summer months.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the planning and execution of all golf course maintenance operations

Supervise and train a team of groundskeepers and maintenance staff

Ensure the health and condition of turfgrass, trees, and landscaping

Operate and maintain irrigation systems and equipment

Monitor and apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other chemicals as needed

Implement best practices for sustainable and environmentally friendly course management

Collaborate with the superintendent to develop and manage the maintenance budget
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, or a related field (preferred)

Minimum of 2 years of experience in golf course maintenance or a related field

Strong knowledge of agronomy, turfgrass science, and golf course management

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Valid driver’s license and Pennsylvania pesticide applicator’s license (or ability to obtain)

Job Benefits
Health insurance is available the first of the month after 60 days of full time employment.
Holidays are paid after 60 days of full time employment, except for salaried employees who are entitled to holiday pay upon employment.
Life insurance and short term disability are available for salaried employees after 90 days of employment.
401K is available after 1000 hours of employment. Application can be made the following January or July. The Standard notifies employees when they have reached the required hours.
