Senior Golf Irrigation Technician
- Performs a variety of skilled tasks including the design, installation, maintenance and repair of golf course irrigation systems and golf course fixtures. Operates equipment and participates in all other golf course related tasks. Receives direction from the Foreman and Golf Manager.
- Assume the duty of crew leader for various operations as directed by their supervisor and during their absences. Must possess good time management skills.
- Troubleshoot various irrigation systems and make necessary repairs. Understand and can perform daily programming of the central control system
- Design, install, maintain, and repair golf irrigation systems; perform visual checks of system; make necessary repairs and adjustments; activate irrigation system annually.
- Troubleshoot and repair drains, pumps, pump filters, piping and valves, electrical components, sprinkler heads, and other irrigation system components.
- Operate a variety of equipment and tools utilized in irrigation activities.
- Winterize pipes, pumps, filters, and other equipment.
- Perform visual inspections of golf course turfgrass and landscape plants and determine adequate soil moisture levels. Program irrigation systems to deliver accurate, precise, and timely water applications required for the maintenance of quality turfgrass and landscape plants.
- Perform visual inspections and carry out water quality testing procedures of the golf course water bodies to maintain and improve both irrigation water suitability and the overall health of the aquatic environment.
- Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance of pumping and filtration systems. Troubleshoot pumping and filtration systems and repair or communicate effectively with repair service personnel if necessary.
- Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
- Perform general cleanup of job sites.
- Perform snow removal and grounds maintenance activities as assigned.
- Estimate time, materials, and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisition materials as required.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required including the application of plant protectants and fertilizers.
Educational Requirements
High school diploma or GED.
Experience Requirements
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible irrigation experience preferred but not required.
