PositionSummary:
The Senior Irrigation Technician position is a critical role with the responsibility of assisting the Operations Manager with department operations and leading, overseeing, training, coaching, and helping the irrigation crew members with the installation, maintenance, and repairs of irrigation systems. The Senior Irrigation Technician may assist in developing existing client accounts, identifying new business opportunities, and executing sales.
This position will be full-time from April 1st to December 1st, with the possibility of having continuous employment during the off-season. This position will have the ability to work OT.
Responsibilities Include:
- Planning, leading, and assisting in the installation of residential and commercial irrigation systems.
- Overseeing and assisting in the repair and service of residential and commercial irrigation systems.
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with existing residential and commercial irrigation systems.
- Assisted the operation manager or mechanic in ensuring all necessary equipment was available and secured for each day’s work.
- Maintaining the inventory of necessary materials for day-to-day production.
- Organizing and assisting in maintaining necessary materials and equipment for day-to-day operations.
- Accurately record all work performed and materials used on the Daily Job Report and turn in completed paperwork at the end of each day.
- Notifying the mechanic of any equipment in need of maintenance.
- Communicating daily with Operations Manager.
- Check in with the office at noon daily via phone to update the job(s) progress.
- Ensuring and assisting in maintaining the vehicle(s) clean and free of debris, garbage, etc., and truck(s) are washed weekly.
- Handling client requests, questions, complaints, etc., promptly, professionally, and courteously (within 24 hours).
- Assisting with the recruitment of team members for the division. x Assist in preparing estimates for new installations, renovations, and repairs.
- Leading and participating actively in weekly safety meetings and meetings with the General Manager and Operations Manager to collaborate on strategic initiatives and align objectives.
- Proactively seek out and attend external training opportunities to enhance leadership skills and expertise in the role and the crew, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional technical skills, sales acumen, strategic thinking, and a proven track record of managing key client relationships. This position requires a professional with strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively lead and motivate others on the team.
- Experience with various irrigation systems, including but not limited to intelligent controllers, 2-wire systems, and troubleshooting.
- Have or be able to obtain and maintain a certification for the State of Massachusetts, Certified Landscape Technician, Certified Landscape Professional, or Pesticide license.
- Experience with technology (i.e., tablets, cameras), general computer skills, and the ability to use software as needed.
- Excellent client service and communication skills include listening to client needs, addressing concerns, and responding promptly.
- Ability to operate and train others on equipment and procedures used in daily operations.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints.
- Knowledge of all related safety practices.
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
- Ability to drive non-CDL trucks and trailers.
- Knowledgeable of low voltage lighting, pond/fountain, and water features.
