Assistant Superintendent
Location
North Shore Country Club is currently searching for an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent for the upcoming 2025 golf season. Located 20 minutes north of Chicago, North Shore Country Club is a fully private, full service club covering 172 acres in Glenview, IL - one of Chicago's finest northern suburbs. Just 15 minutes from lake Michigan, we are confident an intern can enjoy all aspects of city living as well as “get away” at a moment's notice.
Job Description
The assistant superintendent will be involved in all aspects of daily golf course maintenance including the following, but not limited to:

Assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of day to day golf course operations

Supervise and train crew to ensure quality work, and safe operation

Assist in the operation and maintenance of the irrigation system

Participate in moisture management practices with a goal of firm, fast conditioning

Manage 2-5 seasonal interns ensuring they have a positive, educational, and inspiring experience

Assist in spray and fertilizer applications

Daily course setup tasks as needed

Many graduates from North Shore have gone on to fulfilling careers as golf course superintendents at prominent clubs in the area. Here you will have the opportunity to study under industry leading superintendent Dan Dinelli, and get a full scope education of what it takes to manage turf at a high level. In addition, North Shore is currently planning a wall to wall irrigation system replacement in the Fall of 2026. Assistants will be fully involved with the planning and execution of this project, which will be a valuable and marketable experience.
Educational Requirements
2 year turf certificate or higher education is preferred, but not required
Experience Requirements
2+ years in a supervisory role is preferred, but not required. Former interns and AITs encouraged to apply
Special Requirements
A positive attitude and an aspiration to have a career as a golf course superintendent are paramount
