Position: Equipment Manager
Engineers sits on a rolling 150 acres with views of downtown Manhattan, in Roslyn, NY. Engineers having a constant commitment of improving all assets at the club. The biggest being the golf course and the fleet that maintains the course. The club is going is looking to turn over the entire fleet in 2026. At Engineers, we value a happy work life balance. This position is no weekends, 5 days a week.

Job Summary: Under the Supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Equipment Technician oversees and participates in all maintenance and repair of all golf course equipment, including but not limited to: mechanical repairs on all equipment, organization of tools, parts and all areas of maintenance shop facility, record keeping as it pertains to preventative maintenance programs, and the ability to work within budget limitations as assigned by GCS.
Duties/Responsibilities & Requirements:
● Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean and organized work environment including all equipment, tools and parts.
● Coordinates all necessary maintenance and repairs around mowing schedules and equipment usage.
● Inspects, adjusts, troubleshoots, and repairs all Grounds Department Equipment.
● Maintains proper inventory levels.
● Supervises all maintenance of reel and rotary mowers.
● Maintains records of preventative maintenance and repairs.
● Responsible for ordering of all parts and equipment as it pertains to preventative maintenance, and repairs.
● Able to perform all equipment maintenance and repair within the equipment maintenance budget as assigned by Golf Course Superintendent.
● Assists in training employees for proper safety and operation of equipment.
● Periodically operates equipment to insure it is working properly and helps with maintenance of golf course as needed.
● Assists with safety training.
Preferred Qualifications/Requirements:
● Working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus.
● Skill in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools and their use in making mechanical repairs.
● Working knowledge of the theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines, mower grinding, sharpening, and adjusting.
● Working knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of hydraulics.
● Knowledge and experience in welding and fabrication.
● Knowledge and experience in electrical schematics and troubleshooting.
● Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and schedule appropriate preventative maintenance work.
● Strong interpersonal skills.
● Dedication to personal improvement and course advancement.
● Strong problem-solving skills.
● Physically capable of performing all tasks associated with the maintenance and repair of all golf course equipment.
● Ability to prioritize equipment repairs and maintenance work, while executing repairs in an expedient manner.
● Knowledge of the game of golf and the understanding of how job performance affects the playing of conditions of the golf course.
Working Conditions/Physical Demand:
● Hours of operation, break periods, and allotted overtime will be determined by the Golf Course Superintendent. Work times and conditions are subject to change due to outside work depending on weather
o Hours worked over 40 for the current work pay period week will be paid at the employees hourly wage plus an additional half the hourly wage per hour.
● Must be able to perform physical activities associated with manual labor, such as, but not limited to lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs., unassisted) bending, standing, climbing or walking
● May be required to work in all weather conditions unless deemed unsafe by a supervisor
● Must be able to work in an environment containing frequent exposure to chemicals utilized in maintaining the property
● Must be able to operate a variety of gas-powered equipment and sharpen hand tools safely
● Must possess appropriate strength, agility, stamina and overall physical ability needed for the operation of all equipment and tools
Benefits: Compensation: $45-55 per hour DOE. 40-45 hrs a week. 5 day work weeks. Paid holidays. Year end holiday bonus. 401k. Health, FSA, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance. Two weeks paid Vacation the first year, discounted lunches, Uniforms. Short term housing available.
