The fairways and tees are being sodded with Stadium zoysia, the roughs are being sodded with Zeon zoysia, and the USGA greens are being sprigged with Lazer zoysia. This presents a unique opportunity for a growing turfgrass manager to gain valuable experience maintaining the latest and greatest zoysia varieties.

Summary

The Assistant Equipment Manager will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, reel and bedknife grinding, adjusting reels, checking quality of cut, and the performance of the entire $4MM equipment fleet.

Not only will the right candidate gain valuable construction, grow-in, and warm season grass experience, but they’ll also be exposed to the latest and greatest technologies from TORO, Foley, Salsco, Harper, Kubota, etc. We will provide you with the resources, training, knowledge, and experience to be successful at the highest level.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, and tools
  • Maintain equipment, parts and supply inventories by checking stock inventories, anticipating needed equipment, parts and supplies, and placing and expediting orders
  •  Working knowledge of the general operation of gasoline, diesel and electric powered equipment; proper methods of servicing golf course equipment
  • Provide information and training on proper use and maintenance of equipment by communicating with team members
  • Resolve escalated maintenance issues
  • Maintain good working relationships with vendors and vendor mechanics
  • Ensure warranty requirements are processed
  • Other duties may be assigned

 

Educational Requirements

  • Two years or more as an Equipment Manager or assistant Equipment Manager at a golf facility or distributor preferred but not required.

Experience Requirements

  • Ability to diagnosis and repair diesel, gasoline and small engines
  • Understanding of how reel and bedknife grinding has direct impact on quality of cut and after cut appearance.
  • Understanding of reel geometry as it pertains to reel diameter, bedknife attitude and clip frequency.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Basic computer skills for parts lookup, parts ordering and equipment record keeping.
  • Possess an understanding of the game of golf and the basic agronomic fundamentals of championship playing conditions.
