Irrigation Technician

Reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent with the following day-to-day responsibilities:

• Must be able to repair and install PVC pipe & fittings, ADS (slotted and solid) pipe & fittings, poly pipe & fittings. Must also understand drainage issues and possess the ability to correct surface and subsurface drain problems by modification, addition, and installation of drainage systems. 
• Responsible for keeping irrigation and drainage systems working within original design engineering specifications. Does skilled and semi-skilled irrigation construction and maintenance work, and performs related tasks as required.  
• Performs periodic general maintenance on irrigation systems within assigned areas including but not limited to, cleans, and adjusts sprinkler heads by raising or lowering to ensure proper function and coverage and replaces or repairs broken equipment. 
• Safely operates powered equipment such as backhoe, trenchers, and sod cutters, etc.   May be requested to operate golf course maintenance equipment on putting greens, aprons, and tees, etc. using the appropriate pieces of equipment.  
• Keep daily usage records and report any problems with the irrigation system to the Golf Course Superintendent. 
• Keep all irrigation equipment to good operating standards. Wash off, fill with fuel (if applicable), and return all equipment to their proper storage areas.
