Taconic Golf Club, located in the picturesque Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, is consistently recognized as one of the top public golf courses in the U.S. and is regarded as the #2 college course in the country. The course, originally designed by Wayne Stiles in 1927 and later enhanced by Gil Hanse’s master plan in 2008/2009, is home to the Williams College golf teams. Taconic offers a unique and challenging golfing experience, surrounded by stunning mountain views.
As a top-100 public golf course, Taconic is committed to excellence in course maintenance and the continued improvement of our facilities, as outlined in our ongoing Maintenance Plan with Hanse Design. Over the next 3-5 years, we will be executing significant renovations to further enhance the course, and our 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will be an integral part of this effort.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and ambitious 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for recent graduates or individuals with prior golf course experience to gain valuable hands-on experience, grow professionally, and contribute to the long-term success of Taconic Golf Club. The 2nd Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Superintendent and Senior Assistant Superintendent to oversee daily golf course maintenance operations, assist with course improvements, and maintain the high standards that Taconic is known for. This could be a great fit for a future 2025 graduate.

Educational Requirements
Certificate, 2 or 4 year degree in related field.
Experience Requirements
At least one year prior golf course experience.
Special Requirements
Special Requirements:

Assist in the day-to-day management and maintenance of all areas of the golf course, including tees, greens, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.

Supervise and participate in crew activities to ensure efficient operation, providing direction and leadership in daily tasks.

Assist with the implementation of the Master Plan and course renovation projects, including working with contractors and overseeing turfgrass care.

Monitor course conditions and ensure that maintenance practices maintain the aesthetic quality and playability of the course.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental practices, and sustainability initiatives.

Maintain and repair equipment as needed, and assist in inventory management.

Assist in the development and implementation of turf management programs, including irrigation, fertilization, pest management, and disease control.

Provide support to the golf course Superintendent and Senior Assistant Superintendent as required.
