Spray/Applications Technician
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Spray Technician to join our golf course maintenance team. The Spray Technician will be responsible for applying plant protectants to maintain the health and aesthetics of the golf course grounds. This position requires knowledge of turf management practices, product safety, and the ability to operate spray equipment efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will have a passion for maintaining pristine outdoor spaces and will work closely with the Director of Agronomy, the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistants to ensure the course remains in excellent condition year-round.
Northwood Club is a premier country club established in 1946 and located in Dallas, Texas, best known for hosting the US Open in 1952, won by Julius Boros, ironically a Texan end to local great Ben Hogan’s streak of three Open wins. Northwood remains one of only three Texas clubs to host the championship. A William Diddel/Jay Morrish &Tom Weiskopf original design, the golf course went through a complete new renovation from well known architect Tripp Davis, wall to wall and opened up a championship golf course in 2019, which was named the Best Golf Course Renovation in Avid Golfer Magazine. The club also has a Distinguished Clubs of the World Emerald Designation for outstanding member service. Our staff consists of a wide range of professionals who are well recognized in areas of Tennis, Golf and Culinary. In 2026, a new clubhouse construction project will begin with 2 new Bentgrass greens getting rebuilt along with landscaping. We are looking for a hard-working individual to join the golf course maintenance team as a Spray Technician.
Educational Requirements
- Previous experience with golf course spray applications (preferred)
- Valid pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain one within the first year. (required)
Experience Requirements
- Calibration, application, and the correlated record keeping of all plant health applications
- Follow precise application instructions and schedules to maintain optimal turf health and prevent pest or weed infestation.
- Maintain detailed records of chemical applications
- Operate and maintain spray equipment, ensuring it is clean and in good working condition.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed during any applications
- Monitor weather conditions to ensure optimal spraying conditions and prevent drift.
- Keep up to date with industry trends, new products, and best practices related to golf course chemical applications.
Special Requirements
- Strong knowledge of turf care, pest management, and spray equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an understanding of the importance of safety in all applications.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate and maintain spray equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, lift 40+ pounds above shoulders, and stand for long periods during the workday.
