Assistant Superintendent

Morehead City Country Club was founded in 1952 and has a rich history since then.   As the Marlin Capitol of the world Morehead City is a growing city that has a lot to offer with is vast fishing, boating,  beautiful beaches, restaurants and night life.  It is also host to the biggest Marlin tournament in the US. (The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament)

In 2017 Morehead City Country Club re grassed from Bent to Tif Eagle Greens, Bunker Renovation, and re routed/ shaped the golf course with some new holes implemented.  With wall to wall 419 Bermuda we are known to give some of the best  playing conditions not only in this area but the state.      

We are looking for a passionate/ hard working/ detailed individual to work closely with  Golf Course Superintendent to plan,  train, oversee and  execute our daily tasks.   You will also work closely with Superintendent on all agronomy practices and decision's to ensure Morehead City continues to grow and set industry standards. 

 

Education requirements:

·        2- or 4-year turf degree or certificate.

 

Job Requirements:

·        Must have a valid driver’s license.

·        Possess or be able to obtain a NC pesticide license within 90 days of employment.

·        Be highly motivated and proactive to produce quality conditions on a daily basis.

·        Supervise staff on daily assignments.

·        Work well in a team environment.

·        Assist in planning daily, weekly, and monthly tasks and projects on the golf course.

·        Ability to calibrate and apply fertilizer and pesticides along with proper documentation of all applications.

·        Knowledge of irrigation systems with the ability to operate and repair problems as they occur.

·        Assist, with the help of other assistants, in recruitment and training of all new employees.

·        Communicate with the golf shop daily as to what is happening on the golf course.

·        Help with both budget and agronomic planning.

·        Knowledge of equipment setup.

·        Responsibilities are not limited to those listed above.
