Denver Parks and Recreation’s Golf Division is looking to hire an enthusiastic and hard-working Irrigation Maintenance Technician to join our team at Kennedy Golf Course. It takes a dedicated team of professionals to ensure Denver’s iconic courses can be enjoyed for generations to come. As an Irrigation Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in Denver Golf’s mission to be a national leader in the golf industry regarding accessibility, diversity, environmental stewardship, and building the game for the future.

Specifically, as an Irrigation Maintenance Technician for Kennedy Golf Course you will:

  • Perform irrigation system maintenance

  • Monitor and troubleshoot irrigation system issues as they arise

  • Read irrigation drawings and performs construction and maintenance/repair and replacement of broken parts on various equipment including pipes, sprinklers, hoses, and more

  • Research, introduce, and execute sustainable irrigation practices at the course

  • Inspect facilities and equipment to identify construction, maintenance and repair needs including estimating materials, labor, time and cost of repairs

  • Participate in other course maintenance responsibilities including mowing, snow removal, supervision, customer communication, and coordination with the Golf Pro Shop

  • Operate and maintain various lightweight vehicles and equipment; utilize a computer for diagnosing system problems

  • At times direct, train, and supervise seasonal course staff and be the go-to full time staff for all course maintenance and communication

  • Occasionally work and fill in at other Golf Courses to support general department operations

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Educational Requirements

  • Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate

Experience Requirements

  • Experience Requirement: One (1) year of experience in maintaining and repairing commercial, agricultural, or related irrigation systems

Job Benefits

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The starting pay range for this position is $23.33 - $28.00/hour. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

  • A guaranteed life-long monthly pension, once vested after 5 years of service

  • 140 hours of PTO earned within first year + 11 paid holidays, 1 personal holiday and 1 volunteer day per year
