Position Overview:

The Golf Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing the golf course maintenance equipment fleet to ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability. You will work closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents to ensure all equipment is available and functioning at peak performance to support daily operations and course renovation activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair and provide all required preventive maintenance on all equipment associated with Course Maintenance Department.
  • Solely responsible for the quality of cut at the golf facility.
  • Diagnose and repair a wide variety of golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and small engines

  • Perform preventive maintenance and service schedules

  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts, and service histories

  • Order parts and manage shop inventory

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

  • Assist in training staff on proper equipment use and care

  • Collaborate with the Superintendent on equipment needs during the renovation process

Educational Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Graduate of a vocational technical school or post-secondary training in small engine repair or mechanics.

Experience Requirements

  • Four to six years of experience as a mechanic.
  • Golf repair equipment experience.

Special Requirements

Valid Drivers License

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
  • Frequent repetitive motions.
  • Continuous standing and walking.
  • May need to use some protective equipment, such as a respirator, gloves, earplugs, eye guards/visors, boots, and hat.
