Assistant Superintendent

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant  Superintendent to assist overseeing the course maintenance and enhancement of our landscapes, gardens, and grounds. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for outdoor work, helping to ensure that all aspects of landscape management are executed efficiently and effectively. This role requires a hands-on approach to assisting the management of projects, and maintaining high standards in tree care, lawn care, and irrigation systems.

Responsibilities

 

  • Schedule and assign work tasks for grounds crew members, supervise employees to ensure quality work is being performed.
  • Train grounds staff on the operation of equipment while keeping safety at the forefront of any maintenance operations.
  • Assist the Superintendent in the planning of future improvement projects to be completed both in-house and by outside contractors.
  • Serve as the supervisor in charge when the Superintendent is off property.
  • Managing soil moisture levels in fine turf using TDR Moisture meters to ensure highest possible playing conditions and turf health.
  • Mixing and applying pesticides using Toro spray rigs and 25 gallon spot rigs in carts.
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing irrigation system breaks.
  • Operation of automatic irrigation system and scheduling of cycles in Toro Sitepro
  • Applying fertilizer products using push spreaders and vehicle mounted spreaders such as Lely and Adams spreaders.
  • Operation of all grounds maintenance equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Maintain pesticide application record logs in accordance with government regulations.
  • Lead crews in tree removal activities including felling of trees, breakdown, and cleanup.
  • Course setup duties as needed
  • Ability and willingness to perform all other duties as assigned in order to meet the Club's operational needs.

Experience Requirements

  • Have a deep understanding of all facets of the aeration process and the desired result.
  • Multi-year golf course maintenance experience required.
  • Experience in application of fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and fungicides.
  • One year managerial experience on a golf course maintenance crew, multi-course experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of landscape design principles, tree care techniques, irrigation methods, and lawn maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining a positive attitude.

Special Requirements

Ability to obtain Florida Restricted pesticide applicator license.

Experience with Tif-Eagle Ultradwarf Bermuda grass a plus.

$60,000 to $80,000 per year
