Assistant Superintendent

The Harvester Club is a unique Private Golf Club located in Rhodes, Iowa, right in the middle of the State.  The Club has been built on the enduring principals of the past, a new but old-fashioned golf club dedicated to the simplicity and authenticity of the game of golf and some of Iowa's key values, humility, hard work, honesty, integrity and helping one another.  After undergoing a full golf course renovation in 2018 with Golf Architect Keith Foster, the club has continued to thrive and grow each year, the golf course has matured, and a standard has been established for our maintenance team to adhere to year after year.

We have a very simple maintenance program dedicated to providing very firm and fast golf conditions on a daily basis, nothing more, nothing less.  All in a desire to give our membership and their guests a great golf experience whenever they step foot on the property.

We are looking for individuals to join our maintenance team, working directly with the Golf Course Superintendent and other Assistant Superintendents, to help facilitate and lead our team in a way that will result in the course conditions being maintained at a very high level and to be an essential part of making continued improvements throughout the property and facility.  This is a great opportunity to learn the details of efficiently maintaining a very large property effectively and sustainably, season to season. 

In the past year we have expanded our overnight housing on property with the addition of 7 new cabins with putting greens in the front yard, a 1 acre putting course and a fine fescue chipping course to enhance our members and guests' enjoyment while staying on property.  We are currently growing those in hoping to have them ready early summer.

Along with that we have also revamped our maintenance compound and are close to finishing with 10,000 additional square footage of building space to enhance our work environment and provide and clean, safe and fun space to come to work at every day.

In Mid-June of this year, The Harvester Club will also be host to The Western Jr. Amateur Golf Tournament, which will bring the nation's top Jr.  Amateur golfers to compete and test their skills against the golf course and earn their name in the list of stars that have won before them, including Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morkawa, Ricky Fowler, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and many more. 

We are looking to add to our team to help facilitate the needs with the additional amenities we have added, along with the tournament for this season.  The assistant or assistants will be working directly with the Golf Course Superintendent, and other assistants on the management of the maintenance team, in all aspects of golf course maintenance.  Assistants will be instrumental the facilitation of the daily scheduling and training of employees, implementing and working with other assistants on GPS chemical and fertilizer applications, irrigation scheduling and water management, directing repairs and maintenance of a rainbird irrigation system and central computer, all towards the direction of maintaining fine turf bentgrass playing surfaces, low mow bluegrass roughs, an expansive acreage of fine fescue native areas and whatever else is deemed necessary to achieve the desired playing conditions.
