The Old Course at Cobbs Creek was originally designed by Hugh Wilson and opened for play in 1916 with a second 18 hole course named Karakung opening in the late 1920s. It was one of the finest public golf courses in the country and was open to anyone interested in the game of golf. The property is undergoing a major renovation that includes a 30,000 square feet learning lab operated by the TGR Foundation, a 9-hole short course designed by TGR design, a state of the art driving range facility, brand new maintenance facility/clubhouse/cart barn, creek restoration that will create 25 acres of wetland, and a 27-hole golf course restoration led by Jim Wagner and Gil Hanse. Other aspects of the project include a new Rainbird irrigation system, Watertronics pump station, and a new John Deere equipment package. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Director of Grounds and Superintendent to manage day to day operations of the facility to maintain newly established grounds and construction activities. POSITION SUMMARY The assistant golf course superintendent in training (AIT) reports directly to the assistant golf course superintendent. Under the assistant superintendent's supervision, the AIT directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, and cart paths; supervises the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment; and does related work as required. The AIT may serve in the assistant superintendent's capacity during his/her absence.   ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assists in planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees and fairways; schedules work; and supervises the employees and the use of the equipment. Instructs equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment; supervises pesticide applications and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment; and supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems. Assists in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety and personnel discipline.  May modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation.

Club History Dedham Country and Polo Club is one of the oldest private country clubs in Massachusetts. DCPC has enjoyed a vibrant and active membership since its inception in 1887. Job Description Dedham Country and Polo Club is seeking a seasonal turfgrass Intern that is a self-motivated, team-oriented individual, to join our Grounds Staff. As an intern at Dedham Country and Polo Club you will participate in a diverse range of activities involving every aspect of daily golf course maintenance and numerous course improvement projects. Including pesticide applications, top dressing, hand watering, golf course setup and supervising small crews. You will work closely with and report to the Golf Course Superintendent, and Assistant Superintendents. Upon completion of a successful internship/education, full time positions can be made available.
