Looking to step away from college and apply my knowledge and experience in golf course maintenance to help create great playing conditions and an amazing golf environment! I am finishing out my second semester of college, and I've found so far that have learned far more by getting out and working on golf courses than I have in the classroom, and I'm looking to apply what I've learned and continue my hands-on education. I'm willing to travel anywhere in the U.S. and beyond, and I'm excited to live and work someplace new!
Second-year Turfgrass Management student, future Groundskeeper or Superintendent. My passion for sports and working outdoors brought me to North Carolina State University, where I am working on my AAS in Turfgrass Management. Last semester I completed the Turf and Their Uses program, which covered both warm and cool season grasses, disease management, and turfgrass maintenance. The most valuable lesson I have learned from NCSU has been the importance of learning the different characteristics of turfgrass species. I knew I wanted to work on an athletic field or a golf course, so I have enjoyed learning everything from soil science and plant ID to ornamental insects and pesticide uses. My class in Professional Development has provided me with great insights for a successful career in Turfgrass Management. My previous experiences serving 10 years in the United States Marine Corps will allow me to capitalize on several useful skills such as team management, leadership, and problem solving under pressure. I look forward to building on these skills within the Turfgrass industry and the new opportunities it will bring.
