We are seeking a motivated and career-driven Second Assistant Superintendent to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about the golf course industry, eager to continue learning, and interested in becoming a Superintendent in the future.
Located on the shores of Skaneateles Lake in the heart of the Finger Lakes region, Skaneateles Country Club is a family-oriented private club with a rich history and an active membership. The club is at its busiest during the summer months, with a full golf calendar, numerous member events, and families enjoying all the club has to offer. The Second Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent in all aspects of golf course maintenance and management. This is a hands-on leadership position with significant involvement in daily operations, agronomic programs, crew management, and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing daily maintenance operations.
- Lead, train, and motivate crew members.
- Apply pesticides and fertilizers while maintaining accurate records.
- Scout for diseases, insects, weeds, and other agronomic concerns.
- Perform hand watering and moisture management practices to provide the best possible playing conditions.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and improve irrigation systems.
- Help manage daily course setup and presentation.
- Lead crews and projects as assigned.
- Assist with employee training, scheduling, and task delegation.
- Participate in discussions regarding agronomic programs, cultural practices, and operational improvements.
- Serve as a key contributor in maintaining and improving course conditions throughout the property.
