Position Overview
The Governors Club, an Arnold Palmer–designed private club in Brentwood, TN, is seeking a highly motivated Assistant‑in‑Training (AIT) to join our Agronomy Team. This role is designed for individuals pursuing a long‑term career in golf course management and looking to gain hands‑on experience at a premier private facility. The AIT works closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents to learn all aspects of turfgrass management, agronomy operations, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Course Setup — Cup cutting, tee and green setup, bunker maintenance, mowing assignments, and detail work
- Cultural Practices — Aerification, verticutting, topdressing, overseeding, and moisture management
- Crew Leadership — Lead small teams during morning setup, project work, and routine maintenance
- Equipment Operation — Safely operate mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, and specialty turf equipment

Project Work — Assist with drainage installation, sod work, bunker renovation, and landscape improvements

Irrigation Support — Hand‑watering, moisture checks, basic troubleshooting, and system monitoring
- Agronomic Learning — Participate in chemical applications, fertility planning, scouting, and turf diagnostics
- Recordkeeping — Assist with task tracking, moisture logs, and application documentation
- Spraying - Appropriately applying spray applications as directed
- Fertilizing - Appropriately applying Fertilizer as directed
- Irrigation repair - Inspect, repair, and maintain irrigation heads, valves, controllers, pumps, and wiring
- Hand‑Watering — Support greens and high‑priority areas during stress periods
