Experience Requirements
The Assistant Equipment Technician plays a critical role in supporting the Head Equipment Manager and the turf management team. This self-motivated team player will assist in the repair, preventive maintenance, and tracking of all specialized golf course maintenance equipment. This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual with strong mechanical skills to work with state-of-the-art machinery and advance their career within an upscale golf club environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Preventive Maintenance: Assist with the daily scheduled maintenance, oil changes, lubrication, and safety inspections of all golf course equipment.
• Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot and perform standard mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs on gas, diesel, and electric turf machinery.
• Reel & Blade Grinding: Assist in maintaining the highest quality of cut across the course fleet by sharpening, adjusting, and grinding reel and rotary mowers.
• Shop Maintenance: Maintain a highly organized, clean, and safe workshop environment. Ensure all tools are securely stored and meet strict safety protocols.
• Inventory Control: Help monitor and document part usages, fuel/petroleum stock levels, and supply orders to ensure cost efficiency and operational readiness.
• On-Course Support: Be prepared to operate equipment or assist the crew on the golf course with tournament setups or specialized agronomic tasks when needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Experience: Previous experience working with golf course maintenance equipment is highly preferred. We are willing to train dedicated candidates with a strong foundational background in small engine, automotive, agricultural, or hydraulic repair.
• Technical Expert Aptitude: Ability to read equipment manuals, understand basic electrical diagrams, and learn complex hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Success Traits: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and disciplined work ethic. Ability to work independently from verbal or written instructions.
• Licensing: Must possess a valid driver’s license.
