Assistant Equipment Technician

Job Details

The Assistant Equipment Technician is responsible for assisting the Equipment Manager with the maintenance, repair, and preventative service of all golf course maintenance equipment. This position helps ensure that equipment is maintained in safe operating condition to support daily golf course maintenance operations and championship-level playing conditions. The Assistant Equipment technician may assume the responsibilities of the Equipment Manager during absences and may assist the golf course maintenance crew as operational needs require. 

Reports To:

  • Equipment Manager
  • Golf Course Superintendent 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on all golf course maintenance equipment including greens mowers, tee mowers, fairway mowers, rough mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, sprayers, aerification equipment, chainsaws, blowers, and small engines.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and fuel system issues
  • Grind, backlap, adjust, and set up reel and bedknife cutting units to manufacturer and course specifications
  • Maintain proper height-of-cut settings and reel quality standards
  • Lubricate equipment and perform scheduled oil, filter, hydraulic fluid, and coolant changes
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
  • Assist in managing equipment service schedules
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe maintenance shop
  • Assist with inventory of replacement parts, shop supplies, and lubricants
  • Perform emergency field repairs to minimize downtime
  • Operate golf course equipment when staffing needs require
  • Follow all OSHA, club, and manufacturer safety policies

Job Requirements

Experience Requirements
Experience with small engines, hydraulic systems, and turf equipment preferred

Mechanical aptitude and willingness to continue technical training

Ability to read service manuals and use diagnostic equipment
Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Valid driver's license required
