The Assistant Equipment Technician (AET) is responsible for assisting in the maintenance, repair, and operation of all golf course equipment under the supervision of the Equipment Manager. The AET will work alongside another Assistant Equipment Technician and other non-tech team members. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that golf course maintenance machinery and vehicles are operational and well-maintained to provide an optimal golfing experience.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair mechanical or electrical issues on all golf course maintenance equipment.
- Spot-check equipment for performance on the course, make emergency repairs to equipment on the course, and service or supervise the use of equipment.
- Helps to ensure that safety procedures are followed in the equipment maintenance facility.
- Interpret repair manuals, instruction sheets, and hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Torching/Welding repairs to equipment.
- Ensure optimal quality of cut for all playing surfaces daily.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance performed, parts ordered, and inventory levels of equipment.
- Clean and maintain the equipment maintenance area and tools in a safe, clean, and organized manner.
- Perform a morning job on the golf course, including, but not limited to: Mow Greens, Mow Tees, Range Divots, Mow South Tee, Mow Driving Range Rough, Mow Targets.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

-Strong knowledge of the operation of internal combustion engines and mower grinding, sharpening, and adjustments.
-Excellent working knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations about equipment, petroleum, and all other products used at the maintenance facility.
-Proficient in interpreting repair manuals, instruction sheets, and hydraulic and electrical schematics.
-Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
-Strong organizational and time management skills.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-Must be able to grind and set reels to desired specifications.
-Must be able to use common mechanical tools.
-Must have good communication skills.
-Painting experience preferred.

-Three to six months of related experience /training in the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment, experience in golf course equipment maintenance is a plus.
-Valid Driver’s License and maintain a good standing driving record.

-Profound knowledge of basic computer skills to add information to computerized vehicle maintenance programs

Special Requirements
-Work is performed in an outdoor environment with daily exposure to varying weather conditions and frequent exposure to moving mechanical equipment, noise, dust, dirt, grease, chemicals, and other conditions typical of a golf course maintenance facility.
-Capable of lifting, moving and carrying equipment weighing up to 60 pounds
-Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time while safely operating motor vehicles
-Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, crawl, reach, and work in confined or awkward spaces, such as work under and on equipment and machinery for several hours at a time in a day
-Frequently uses hands, reaches overhead and below waist with hands and arms
-Must be able to wear and properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all applicable safety policies and procedures.
-Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
