Job Summary
The Cannon Club is a vibrant 450-member private club situated in Southern MD on 180 acres of rolling farmland approximately 30 minutes East of Washington D.C. The golf course was designed by Lindsay Ervin in 1989 and features bentgrass/poa greens, tees and fairways. The club features an 18-hole golf course, 2 Har-Tru tennis courts, 1 hard tennis court, 4 pickle ball courts and a pool. Over the past seven years, the club has gone through a tremendous transformation that includes clubhouse renovations, an outdoor pavilion and most recently a new pool house and a complete bunker renovation project that was completed in April of this year.
Summary
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and the 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to manage and oversee the daily operations of the golf course and grounds. This position requires a hands-on approach to managing all facets of the golf course maintenance operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentor, train and supervise the staff
- Assign tasks to the golf course maintenance staff
- Operate irrigation system as needed
- Moisture management and proper hand watering
- Apply plant protectants, insecticides, herbicides and fertilizer as needed
- Troubleshoot and repair irrigation and drainage systems
- Assist and manage all projects on the golf course and grounds
- Assist with aeration and cultural practices
- Monitoring turf conditions and the ability to take corrective action
- Participate in daily maintenance practices as needed

Job Requirements
Supervisory or crew-lead experience preferred
Knowledge of turfgrass species, irrigation systems, and maintenance equipment
Valid driver’s license; pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain one within 6 months
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
Mentor, train and supervise the staff
