Youngstown Country Club is seeking a motivated and career-driven Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our golf course maintenance team.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their turf career. The Assistant Superintendent will work directly with the Golf Course Superintendent and gain meaningful experience in agronomy, staff leadership, irrigation management, chemical and fertilizer programs, course projects, budgeting, and daily decision-making at a private club.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in producing excellent playing conditions, leads by example, and wants to continue developing toward becoming a Golf Course Superintendent.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with planning and leading daily golf course maintenance operations
• Lead, train, and organize maintenance staff
• Oversee and participate in daily course setup and mowing operations
• Monitor turf health, soil moisture, disease pressure, and overall playing conditions
• Assist with pesticide and fertilizer applications, calibration, and recordkeeping
• Assist with irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting, and repairs
• Participate in aerification, topdressing, verticutting, and other agronomic practices
• Take an active role in golf course projects and improvements
• Assume additional leadership responsibilities in the Superintendent’s absence

What We’re Looking For

• Golf course maintenance or turfgrass experience preferred
• Turfgrass degree or certificate preferred, but not required for the right candidate
• Ohio pesticide applicator license preferred, or willingness to obtain
• Irrigation and chemical application experience are a plus
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Leadership ability and good communication skills
• Desire to learn, take ownership, and advance within the golf course industry
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required

$50,000–$60,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
