Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Job Details
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent assists the Golf Course Superintendent in planning, directing, and supervising all aspects of golf course maintenance. The successful candidate will help lead the maintenance team while developing expertise in agronomic programs, irrigation management, tournament preparation, staff leadership, and golf course improvement projects.

Essential Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and directing daily golf course maintenance operations.
- Supervise, train, and develop golf course maintenance staff.
- Schedule daily work assignments and monitor productivity.
- Assist with operation, programming, troubleshooting, and repair of the Toro Lynx irrigation system and VP satellite controls.
- Monitor soil moisture and manage irrigation scheduling to maximize turf health and playability.
- Assist with fertilizer and pesticide applications in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
- Calibrate spray and spreader equipment.
- Scout for turfgrass diseases, weeds, and insects while recommending corrective actions.
- Assist with aerification, topdressing, overseeding, grow-in projects, and other cultural practices.
- Maintain exceptional golf course conditions for daily member play and championship events.
- Assist with golf course construction and improvement projects.
- Promote a safe work environment through compliance with Club policies and Cal/OSHA standards.
- Participate in weekend, holiday, and tournament operations as needed.
- Other duties as assigned at the discretion of the Director of Agronomy.

Job Requirements
• Experience at a private club, resort, or championship-caliber facility is highly desirable.
• Valid California Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Successful candidates will possess:
• Strong understanding of cool-season turfgrass management.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems and water management.
• Experience with fertilizer and pesticide application programs.
• Ability to identify turfgrass diseases, insects, weeds, and ornamental pests.
• Familiarity with Toro Lynx irrigation software is preferred.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Conversational Spanish is a plus.
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to continuous learning.
