Job Details

Position Overview

Lake Waramaug Country Club is seeking a motivated, dependable, and career-minded Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to become an important part of our golf course maintenance operation.

Located in the scenic Litchfield Hills of Connecticut, Lake Waramaug Country Club is a private 9-hole facility that places a strong emphasis on exceptional course conditioning, attention to detail, and providing an outstanding experience for our membership. In addition to the golf course, the Club includes a Beach Club and marina as well as a Tennis Center featuring four clay courts.

This is a hands-on leadership position with significant responsibility. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will work directly with the Golf Course Superintendent and will be involved in virtually every aspect of golf course maintenance, agronomy, staff management, projects, and daily operations.

Because of the size and structure of our operation, this position provides an excellent opportunity for an individual who wants to develop a broad range of skills rather than being limited to one area of golf course maintenance. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of responsibilities, contribute ideas, develop leadership skills, and play a meaningful role in both the daily conditioning and long-term improvement of the golf course.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning, organization, and execution of daily golf course maintenance operations
  • Help supervise, train, schedule, and coordinate seasonal and full-time maintenance staff
  • Assist with daily course setup and ensure a high standard of presentation
  • Participate in mowing, rolling, bunker maintenance, irrigation, and other turf maintenance practices
  • Assist with fertilizer and plant protectant applications
  • Monitor turf conditions and assist in identifying and addressing agronomic issues
  • Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and repair the irrigation system
  • Help coordinate maintenance activities around daily play, golf events, and tournaments
  • Maintain high standards for course conditioning, detail, and overall presentation
  • Assist with equipment operation and routine maintenance
  • Participate in golf course improvement projects and renovations
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, efficient, and productive work environment
  • Lead by example and help establish expectations for the maintenance staff
  • Assume additional leadership and operational responsibilities in the Golf Course Superintendent's absence
