Job Details
Valhalla Golf Club, designed by Jack Nicklaus, is a major championship caliber course in Louisville, KY. Valhalla has been host to 4 PGA Championships, 2 Sr. PGA Championships, and the Ryder Cup. In 2028, Valhalla is set to host the Solheim Cup, making it one of only four courses in the world to host both the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup and the first time women professional golfers will have played Valhalla. The 2027 season is extremely important to the success of the 2028 Solheim Cup. The Valhalla agronomy team is seeking motivated and career oriented AITs to join us in preparation for another Major Championship. Valhalla is committed to developing future leaders in the golf course management profession. Successful candidates will receive mentorship, progressive responsibility, and opportunities for continuing education, industry networking, and professional growth with the goal of advancing into an Assistant Superintendent position. AITs will work closely with the GCS, Assist. GCS, Equipment Manager, and agronomy team to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of championship caliber conditioning and major championship preparation.
Responsibilities will include and are not limited to:
-Assist with daily golf course maintenance operations, including mowing, course setup, bunker maintenance, irrigation, and detail work
-Play a major role in the preparation and execution of championship-level playing conditions and help produce the club's motto "Firm, Fast, Fun"
-Learn proper cultural practices for both warm and cool season grasses
-Assist with all watering practices
-Assit with all chemical and fertility applications
-Help monitor turf conditions including turf health, moisture, and environmental conditions
-Assist with irrigation troubleshooting and repair
-Assist with all cultural practices including aerifications, maintenance verticutting, grooming/brushing, topdressing, et. al.
-Assist with all record keeping and data tracking
-Maintain a professional and working relationship with all other departments

Job Requirements
-1 to 2 years working at a golf club or related Turf Maintenance/Agronomy operation is preferred but not necessary-
- Completion of an accredited online degree from any of the Turf Management ones currently being offered if not attending or have not attended in person classes at a University
-Recent graduates and individuals currently pursuing a turfgrass degree are encouraged to apply
-Sense of Urgency is a must
-Possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and a willingness to learn
-Ability to work effectively in a team oriented environment
-Ability to work outside in varying degrees of weather conditions
-Ability to lift over 50 lbs and perform manual labor
-Ability to work varying hours, weekends, and holidays as required by golf course operations
