Charlotte Country Club is seeking an ambitious Assistant in Training (AIT) to join one of the country's premier golf course maintenance programs. This is a unique opportunity to begin your career at a club that is completing a transformational Donald Ross restoration and preparing to host future USGA championships.
Working directly alongside the Director of Agronomy, Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, and an experienced leadership team, the Assistant in Training will gain hands-on experience in all aspects of golf course maintenance while developing the technical, leadership, and management skills necessary to become a future Golf Course Superintendent.

Initial Priorities of the Position:
-
Become integrated into the maintenance team and understand departmental expectations.
-
Assist with the successful grow-in and reopening following the Donald Ross restoration.
-
Learn Charlotte Country Club's maintenance standards and agronomic programs.
-
Develop an understanding of equipment, irrigation, fertility, cultural practices, and daily operations.
-
Build strong relationships throughout the agronomy department.
Key Responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills & Aptitude:
-
Assist in maintaining championship-quality golf course and clubhouse grounds.
-
Participate in the planning and execution of daily maintenance operations.
-
Work alongside the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents in executing agronomic programs.
-
Assist in all aspects of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), including monitoring turf health and identifying potential issues.
-
Perform fertilizer and pesticide applications while maintaining accurate application records.
-
Assist with irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of the Rain Bird irrigation system.
-
Participate in course setup, tournament preparation, and special events.
-
Assist with golf course construction, renovation, and grow-in projects.
-
Supervise, train, and mentor seasonal and new maintenance employees as assigned.
-
Monitor work quality and help maintain departmental productivity standards.
-
Assist with purchasing, receiving, inventory control, and storage of fertilizers, chemicals, supplies, and repair parts.
-
Maintain records related to weather, maintenance activities, equipment, and inventory.
-
Participate in tree care, landscape maintenance, pruning, and native area management.
-
Assist in snow removal operations during winter months when necessary.
-
Attend departmental meetings, safety training, and continuing education opportunities.
-
Occasionally attend Green Committee meetings and assist with project updates.
-
Routinely inspect and evaluate golf course conditions to maintain championship playing surfaces.
-
Foster positive working relationships with all club departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
One to three years of golf course maintenance experience is preferred.
-
Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Turfgrass Certificate in Turfgrass Management or a related field preferred.

Candidates with significant golf course maintenance experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Valid driver's license.
-
Ability to obtain and maintain a pesticide applicator license.
-
Demonstrated commitment to professional development.

Stable employment history and strong references.

Desire to become a Golf Course Superintendent.
