Assistant In-Training
Job Details
Butler National Golf Club is seeking an Assistant-in-Training (AIT) to join the golf course maintenance team. This is a full-time, year-round development position designed for an individual looking to build the leadership, technical, and management skills needed to advance in the golf course management industry.
The AIT works under the direction of the First and Second Assistants and is responsible for leading assigned projects, interns, and crew members. The position provides hands-on experience in daily golf course operations while developing skills in crew leadership, delegation, communication, project management, irrigation, chemical applications, water management, and other areas of turf management.
The AIT will be given responsibility based on experience and demonstrated ability. When leading an assigned project, the AIT is responsible for organizing the people and resources provided, communicating progress, and ensuring the work is completed to the expected standard. Technical decisions remain with the appropriate Assistant, while the AIT develops the ability to execute and lead.
This position is intended for someone who wants more than a seasonal role and is looking for a structured opportunity to grow within the golf course management profession.

Strong work ethic and willingness to perform routine work when required
Interest in developing leadership and management skills
Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with a diverse maintenance team
Ability to organize and lead assigned projects and personnel
Willingness to learn and take direction from management
Basic understanding of turfgrass management practices, irrigation, and chemical
applications
Valid driver's license
Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, during peak periods
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Physical ability to perform hands-on tasks
Salary Range
$27 per hour
