Shipyard Golf Club is seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined Assistant Equipment Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of our golf course equipment fleet. Position Summary
The Assistant Equipment Mechanic works closely with the Equipment Manager and Golf Course Maintenance team to maintain, repair, and service the equipment used to deliver outstanding golf course conditions. This position assists with preventive maintenance, equipment diagnostics, reel maintenance, welding, fabrication, and equipment repairs while ensuring all machinery operates safely and efficiently.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist in the maintenance, repair, and servicing of all golf course maintenance equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance including lubrication, inspections, and adjustments.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and assist with equipment repairs.
- Help maintain reel mower cutting units to ensure superior quality of cut.
- Support troubleshooting and repairs involving hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Assist with welding, fabrication, and general equipment shop projects.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Help manage inventory of repair parts, lubricants, and shop supplies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe equipment maintenance facility.
- Communicate equipment needs and repair priorities with the Golf Course Superintendent and Equipment Manager.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and best practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support golf course operations.

Job Requirements
Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver's license required.
Interest in golf course maintenance and the game of golf is beneficial.
Technical school training, vocational education, or coursework in mechanics, diesel technology, small engine repair, automotive technology, or related fields preferred.
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
• Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
• Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
• Frequent repetitive motions.
• Continuous standing and walking.
• May need to use some protective equipment, such as a respirator, gloves, earplugs, eye guards/visors, boots, and hat.
