Job Details
Grove XXIII, located in Hobe Sound, FL, is looking to add an Assistant Superintendent to the agronomy team. This is a hands-on management position that's primary responsibility will be staff management, and running the day-to-day golf course maintenance operation. Grove XXIII is looking for a candidate who wants to learn and grow in this industry, and who's ultimate goal is to obtain a head superintendent position at a premier facility.
Primary Functions:
The Assistant Superintendent's primary job functions are to provide management, supervision, and direction to the Golf Course Maintenance Department staff and to work closely with the Irrigation and Spray Techs, Equipment Manager and Grounds Superintendent to support the management, health, and playing condition of the golf course greens, tees, fairways, roughs, trees, native areas, etc.
The Assistant Superintendent will plan and prioritize daily and overall department work schedules, maintain accurate golf course and employee records, train and develop staff, and communicates effectively within the golf course maintenance department and club to ensure all golf course maintenance issues are addressed in a timely fashion.
The Assistant Superintendent will play a large role in directing the day-to-day responsibilities of the golf course staff and collaborate with the Superintendent to develop and conduct morning meetings and other training and leadership for the golf course staff. This position reports directly to the Golf Course and Grounds Superintendent.

Job Requirements

Ability to convey information clearly, concisely, and professionally.
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and maintain effective preventive maintenance programs.
Requires knowledge of agronomy and related practices.
Requires knowledge of the game of golf.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in managing personnel, departmental resources, golf course maintenance priorities, and operational planning.
Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with management, co-workers and members.
Ability to work within a team environment with consistent demonstration of a positive attitude.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
In-depth knowledge of applicable OSHA requirements.
Valid Florida driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and standard business computer applications.
Have or obtain within 90 days a State of Florida Commercial Applicator license.
Previous club experience.
Salary Range
From $85,000 to $100,000 per year
