Initial Priorities of the Position

• Learn and become fully engaged in Amara's golf course maintenance operation and Agronomy systems.
• Assist with daily golf course maintenance and crew organization.
• Take an active role in water management across the golf course.
• Assist with the club's chemical, spraying, and fertilizing program.
• Help establish efficient daily routines, processes, and standards for the Agronomy team.
• Develop strong working relationships with the Superintendent, Director of Agronomy, and Agronomy staff.
• Support the successful completion of the golf course renovation and grow-in process.
• Be a part of building a professional, organized, and team-oriented Agronomy culture from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills, and Aptitude

• Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with daily golf course maintenance operations.
• Lead and organize Agronomy staff to ensure daily assignments are completed safely, efficiently, and to Amara's standards.
• Assist with scheduling, assigning, and monitoring daily crew responsibilities.
• Assist with monitoring turf moisture and plant health and communicating observations to the Agronomy leadership team.
• Assist with the planning and execution of the club's chemical application program.
• Safely and accurately apply fertilizers, pesticides, plant growth regulators, and other products as directed.
• Maintain accurate application records and follow all required safety and regulatory procedures.
• Operate and maintain spray equipment, with experience using John Deere GPS sprayers considered a plus.
• Assist with calibration and proper operation of spray equipment.
• Monitor golf course conditions and communicate issues or changing conditions to the Superintendent.
• Assist with turfgrass cultural practices, including mowing, aerification, topdressing, fertility, and other maintenance practices.
• Train team members on proper work procedures, equipment operation, and safety practices.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional maintenance operation.
• Work alongside other members of the Agronomy leadership team to prioritize daily and long-term projects.
• Adapt to changing priorities and assist wherever needed to support the overall success of the Agronomy operation.
• Maintain a professional relationship with club members, guests, vendors, and fellow employees.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of golf course maintenance experience preferred.
• Certificate, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field preferred, although equivalent experience will be considered.
• Previous Assistant Superintendent or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with water management and irrigation systems.
• Experience with golf course chemical applications and spraying.
• John Deere GPS sprayer experience is a plus.
• Understanding of turfgrass management practices and chemical application procedures.
• Experience leading or supervising an Agronomy team.
• Nevada pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain one.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong desire to continue learning and progressing within the golf course management industry.
