Job Details
The Club at Cordillera is seeking an Assistant Superintendent, full time, year round. We are a high-end, 54-hole facility located in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Summer operations are intense and winter operations are more relaxed.
Key responsibilities:
Irrigation
- Demonstrate excellent and high-level ability to isolate irrigation zones using irrigation maps and logic.
- Design and implement elite night watering strategies with computer software to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption.
- Exhibit top-tier diagnostic and repair and finish work ability on irrigation systems, including broken pipes, stuck valves, faulty heads, and system inefficiencies; maintaining parts inventory proactively.
- Maintain a high-level understanding of satellite box communication systems, including the ability to diagnose, repair, and identify all components and their locations.
- Show excellent proactive awareness in identifying and remedying soft, dry, or stressed turf areas before they become emergency issues. This is through water management, traffic control, aeration, and fertility.
Operations
- Operate all equipment with elite-level competency, including tractors, skid steers, aerators, sprayers, and rental equipment such as mini excavators and plate compactors.
- Provide excellent and accurate estimation of timeframes, labor, and materials required to complete tasks efficiently.
- Execute sodding and plugging projects with care and efficiency and train team members to replicate that level of quality.
Staff Leadership
- Build and maintain excellent and professional relationships with all staff, including Spanish-speaking team members; demonstrate working Spanish communication ability.
- Lead efficient, and effective morning meetings that clearly communicate daily goals and expectations.
- Produce high-level weekly and bi-weekly plans that integrate weather, golf volume, agronomic concerns, staffing, and budget considerations.
- Demonstrate excellent written communication skills by producing detailed agronomic reports for property-wide distribution.
- Develop and execute detailed nightly and weekly water plans, taking into consideration weather patterns, play volume, staffing, and economic efficiency.
- Provide new staff with thorough onboarding, orientation, and training.
Spraying and Calculations
- Perform precise math calculations involving sand, soil, gravel, concrete, sod, and chemical and fertilizer.
- Exhibit ability to maintain and calibrate all sprayers and spreaders and effectively teach these skills to junior staff.
