This role is intentionally structured to develop the next Superintendent. The selected candidate will gain hands-on leadership experience, direct involvement in decision-making, and exposure to budgeting, planning, and long-term course strategy.
POSITION SUMMARY
The First Assistant Superintendent reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and plays a key leadership role in the daily management and execution of all golf course maintenance operations across 27 holes.
This position is designed as a high-level developmental role, providing the experience and responsibility necessary to advance into a Golf Course Superintendent position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in planning and implementing agronomic programs for all playing surfaces
- Supervise, train, and lead maintenance staff; assign and monitor daily work
- Maintain Bermuda fairways and bentgrass greens to high-performance standards
- Assist in irrigation scheduling, system management, and repairs
- Apply fertilizers and plant protectants in accordance with agronomic plans and regulations
- Monitor turf health, weather, and soil moisture; adjust practices proactively
- Oversee daily course setup including mowing patterns and hole locations
- Assist with tournament preparation and execution
- Maintain accurate records for chemical applications and compliance
- Support inventory management and procurement of supplies
Leadership Development Exposure
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control discussions
- Assist with capital planning and infrastructure projects, including the new maintenance facility
- Engage in staff hiring, evaluations, and team development
- Gain experience communicating priorities and expectations across the operation

Job Requirements
• Knowledge of Bermuda and bentgrass management practices
• Experience with irrigation systems and spray applications

• Valid driver’s license required
• Pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain
