The Elks Country Club is an 18-hole golf course designed by renowned golf course designer Donald Ross and opened in 1924. Considered one of the best golf courses in Southern Ohio, the Elks is a 6,701-yard par 72 that has received a prestigious 4-star rating from golf digest. Truly one of Ross’ most amazing designs, the Elks has a rating of 71.0 and a slope of 117 with bermuda grass fairways and bentgrass greens.
Amenities include a golf shop, practice facilities, a driving range, a café and bar. The club is committed to high-quality course conditions, customer service, and restoring and maintaining the integrity of the original design.
Job Purpose:
The Elks Country Club is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to help lead the daily maintenance and management of our golf course/clubhouse grounds. This position plays a key role in delivering exceptional playing conditions while assisting with staff supervision, agronomic programs, irrigation management, and daily tasking.
- Assist in planning and executing daily golf course maintenance operations
- Supervise and train grounds maintenance staff to ensure quality standards are met
- Monitor turfgrass health and assist with fertility, pesticide, and cultural practices
- Assist with irrigation system scheduling, troubleshooting, and repairs
- Planning and coordinating mowing, topdressing, aerification, and other turf maintenance practices
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and environmental regulations
- Maintain accurate records of chemical applications
- Assist in tournament preparations and special projects
- Serve as acting superintendent in the superintendent’s absence
The successful applicant will be required to complete pre-employment screening process and provide valid documentation proving eligibility to work in the U.S. within three days of hire.

Job Requirements
• Knowledge of turf management practices, irrigation/pump systems, and fertilizer/pesticide applications
• Ability to lead, motivate, and communicate effectively with staff
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver’s license required
• Ability to obtain Ohio state pesticide applicator license within 60 days of employment
