The Club at Viniterra is seeking a motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our golf course maintenance team.
Working closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent will help oversee the daily maintenance, conditioning, and presentation of the golf course and surrounding grounds. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who takes pride in exceptional course conditions, promotes a positive team environment, and understands the demands of maintaining a championship-caliber facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in planning and executing daily golf course maintenance activities.
- Help supervise, schedule, train, and motivate the golf course maintenance team.
- Participate directly in mowing, course setup, bunker maintenance, irrigation work, and other daily assignments.
- Apply fertilizers and plant-protection products safely and accurately in accordance with label requirements and applicable regulations.
- Assist with monitoring turf health, moisture levels, pest activity, disease pressure, and overall playing conditions.
- Operate, inspect, and assist with troubleshooting the irrigation system.
- Support cultural practices such as aerification, topdressing, verticutting, seeding, and sod installation.
- Assist with maintaining accurate pesticide, fertilizer, labor, and maintenance records.
- Help ensure that equipment, chemical-storage areas, and maintenance facilities remain clean, safe, and organized.
- Enforce safe operating practices and ensure team members follow established procedures.
- Assist with preparing the course for tournaments, outings, and other special events.
- Communicate course conditions, staffing needs, and maintenance concerns to the Golf Course Superintendent.
- Serve as the department's on-site leader when the Golf Course Superintendent is unavailable.
- Perform other duties necessary to maintain the golf course and property to Viniterra's standards.

Job Requirements
• Possess a valid Virginia pesticide applicator license or obtain the required Virginia pesticide license within 90 days of employment.
• Working knowledge of turfgrass maintenance practices, fertilizers, pesticides, irrigation, and golf course equipment.
• Previous supervisory or team-lead experience is preferred.
• Ability to identify and respond to common turfgrass diseases, weeds, insects, and environmental stresses.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Physical and Scheduling Requirements
• Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, humidity, and other changing weather conditions.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate golf course maintenance equipment and utility vehicles.
• Availability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when course conditions or special events require them.
• Dependable attendance and reliable transportation are required.
Salary Range
From $55,000 to $60,000 per year
